Fighting to change that stubborn habit is worth it!

There was a time I considered creating my whole brand around habit change. I’d spent thousands of hours learning about it and was considered an expert. Whenever I’d put together a program to teach about habits, it would sell out. I also love to learn and teach about them. What else do you need to kick off a new career, right?

I even considered branding myself “The Habit Queen.”

Obviously, I ended up putting my brain power into another idea, so that one never blossomed.

However, teaching about habit science / habit energy is baked into every single thing that I offer: from preventing cognitive decline, to adding more plants to your diet, to exercising more, to finally removing alcohol from your life…

Even though you may not realize it, the needed behavior changes to accomplish any of those things won’t stick around long enough to achieve your goal without habit change.

So, to be effective at what I do today, I have to teach about habits.

Do this, not that, just doesn’t work.

But if you shift your habitual behaviors away from this so you can make that your habitual behavior instead – then you get success!

Let me tell you about Amy.

Ames (her nickname) purchased my 30 day online course, Your Energy & Your Habits to get away from a nightly glass (or two) of wine habit.

It was during the pandemic, she was working from home, and wine was the way she’d transition from her “work day” to her “evening relaxing time” all while being in the same house.

About 3 weeks into the program (no wine during that time), she had a really tough day at work that ended with an argument with a coworker. As she walked out of her home office towards her kitchen, she thought, “screw it, I’m having wine.”

Her mind ruminated on the tough conversations and mistakes that transpired that day as she got out what she needed to open and pour a glass of wine.

After a few minutes she came back to herself and realized that she had made tea instead!

When Ames started Your Energy & Your Habits, she decided that she’d drink tea as her calming drink instead of wine and she’d been making it after work every day for three weeks.

On this challenging day, when she thought she’d thrown in the towel, her tea habit took over and she did not drink wine.

That, my friends, is the power of habit.
