Why Fall Beats January 1: Seize the Season!
I’m back from my trip to Vancouver Island (and Cortes Island where I worked at an EMYoga retreat at an incredible location called Hollyhock).
I mean, just look at this garden at Hollyhock!
When you combine the vacation part of my trip with the work part, I was gone for an incredible 18 days of new experiences and renewal.
Now that I’m home, there’s a new moon (time to reset and create) and my birthday is on Friday (time to reflect and plan).
And… to put the cherry on top of all of this plant-new-seeds energy, we’re approaching fall in about a month. For me, fall is the absolute best time to commit to a new endeavor or re-commit to one that fell away over the summer.
I know many of you think this way too. I’ve received several emails of late with messages about how you’re motivated to step into some healthy lifestyle changes, but have been too busy to begin during the summer.
This particular new moon, which is in passionate and “can-do” Leo, is a wonderful time to start tuning into your intentions for the fall, when the hustle of summer is winding down and your inner knowing may be calling you to make some changes.
Even if you’re not ready to start now, you can get the seeds planted, so that when Labor Day passes, you’re ready to launch!
Since it’s still summer, it might be nice to do your intention-setting outside with nature in a quiet place with a journal.
If I’m not going to be outside, another way I like to spend quiet time cleansing and aligning my energy is in a bath. I use baking soda (no aluminum), essential oils and sometimes epsom salts, enjoy the bath with no purpose, and then write in my journal wearing my favorite robe afterwards.
While January 1 often brings pressure to make sweeping resolutions, I’ve always felt fall invites us to set more realistic goals without a lot of hoopla.
Do you think fall is a better time than January 1 for personal change? Reply back and let me know and if you want to share with me what you’re thinking of doing, I’d love to hear it.
PS – Stay tuned for next week’s newsletter where I’ll announce a new free event to help you make the most of this transformative season!
