Looking at what I do now, this may seem hard to believe but I never thought I’d be a teacher.
Sure, I started leading group fitness classes and became a personal trainer while in college but I didn’t put that into the bucket of “teaching.” That was a job. A way to make money while exercising, something I was going to be doing anyway.
Same thing with coaching athletes, healthy lifestyle, plant-based nutrition, yoga, meditation – I took something I was interested in and loved to do and then became professional at it.
What I know now is that we’re all teachers.
You know that friend or colleague that you call whenever you need help with [Blank]?
[Blank] could be anything.
Whatever they have a knack for, whenever you’re facing a problem or decision in that area, you just know you’re going to give them a call.
That person is a teacher. So are you.
I know, without a doubt, that for the people in your circle, you’re an expert on something.
You might not be able to think of it right now, but you already know how to do something really well that other people are trying to figure out how to accomplish.
I was talking recently with a friend who has a business traveling around her state working at markets and festivals where she sells merchandise.
She mentioned to me she was interested in learning more about creating online courses to have a business in her off-season but she didn’t have anything to teach.
“Yes, you do!” I practically shouted. You know how you fill out all those applications for your markets and many of them are hard to get accepted into but you know all the right words to put on your application to get them to say yes to you.
And you also know how to perfectly pack and travel with your stuff, and you know how to set up a beautiful booth and where to buy everything you need to create that beautiful booth.
You know all about sales licenses, wholesaling, negotiating and taxes and running a business like you do.
I promise there are people right now who are trying to figure all that out on their own and you can give them the answers they need in an online course that you create and sell.
There’s this well known, very rich guy in the online course business world. He currently owns 5 companies.
He got started as a young guy in the early days of online business by creating a program teaching people how to build a potato launcher.
Potato. Launcher.
Turns out, there were enough people who wanted to learn how to rocket potatoes into the air that he amassed a small fortune from teaching them how to do it in the online format.
Lately, almost as many people are calling me for business advice as they are for health and longevity advice.
So I’ve made a course so I can help and give them the answers they seek in a cost effective, time efficient, repeatable way.
Do you see how I just did everything I described above?
